Who
do you want your site to cater to?

differently.
For example:
Youth may want more current graphical sites.
Adults may relate more to textual sites.
Industry may want a more technical feel.

important to know this as you move forward.

need to get a good idea of how you
picture your website.
Do you have colors picked out?
Is there a certain layout that you must have?
Is your site set at the left, right or center?
What is the tone of the site:
Modern? Fun? Technical? Corporate?
Interactive? etc.

8- Sales?
Will you sell anything on your
site? How?
Help +/-
Are
you going to sell anything on your site?
A merchant account is not
always necessary to sell products and services online. Do you have a
merchant account?
How do you picture the flow of information
that will be accompanying sales?
Do you have individual product pictures?
Do you have product numbers assigned?
Put together any other information you think necessary.
9- Tools &
Applications?
Do you plan to use any automatic or interactive
features?
Help
+/-
Many
times your website may need tools or interactive applications to help
your viewers. Sometimes you can have your site
perform tasks automatically that will save you many hours of
labor. If you can dream it up, it is probably
possible to do. Sometimes the simpler apps
take more time to make, and sometimes the seemingly complex apps take
less time.
You may be surprised by a lower cost.
So the key is, JUST ASK!
You can find some common apps
here.
10- Advertising?
Do you want to have advertisers on your site? Will
you advertise?
Help +/-
If
you have a decent amount of traffic, advertisements on your site can
pay off. The other side of advertisements is that
they can take away from YOUR content and irritate your
viewers. At the same time, many internet users are
accustomed to ads now. This is a decision that you
will want to
weigh in your planning because the layout can change with
ads. If you decide to go with ads in the future,
your whole site
may need revisions if you don't leave room for them in the
original development of your site.
The other side of advertising is, do you want to advertise your own
site? Do you want to consider having some banner ads
made to
draw viewers to your own site? This doesn't affect a
lot of
the development process, but it is good to know early in
development.
